Ballroom concert

Here is Haden after his end of the year ballroom showcase at Layton High. It was so much fun to watch and so well done. Haden has become an excellent ballroom dancer and he loves to ham it up on stage and maybe have a little too much fun! He has been the team captain and has done a great job, especially helping his team learn and perfect a last minute dance they were able to perform and they pulled it off great!

Soccer

Stratton had a great experience this past year playing soccer. He really enjoyed it and we loved watching him play. It was fun to watch him score a goal the last game of the season, he was really determined. We were sad to see the season end but we already have him signed up for next year.

Wall Art

Yes, the day must come for each parent when they realize their walls and doors have now become the canvas for their child's imagination and creativity. Well, it was Evie's turn to experiment when she found this green permanent marker and proceeded to color as much of the walls, doors, and banister she could before being caught. It wouldn't have been so bad if it would have been a washable marker... thank goodness for Mr. Clean magic erasers, because it was everywhere. Luckily most of it wiped away, and I added a note to self... remember Evie is only two so check on her often, especially if she's being extra quiet!

Surprise Visit!

Mom called to tell us Sambou was in town with his wife Khady and his son Mamadou. We haven't seen Sambou for about 10 years so this was a welcome surprise!!! This was the first time we had ever met his beautiful wife and of course their new little baby boy. It was so fun to see them and reminisce about the time (4 years) that Sambou lived with our family. He was the same fun loving, happy Sambou we remembered. Hopefully it won't be another 10 years before we see him and his family again.

Drama King!

Last week we got a postcard in the mail that said Haden had been selected to receive an award at the annual Syracuse Jr. High "Teacher's Choice Award" ceremony. It was at 7:00 a.m. on May 1st and only the parents and students receiving an award were invited to attend. Haden was given the "Improv. Master" award by his drama teacher Mrs. Land. Haden has loved this class and has found something he really enjoys and apparently is really good at according to his teacher. She says that Haden makes her laugh every day, he's not at all afraid to get up in front of the class and act. Haden has actually become quite the performer with guitar, ballroom, improv and his lead role in the upcoming stake roadshow, I think he may have found his niche! I guess all of those episodes of "who's line" has really paid off :)

Caught white handed!

Evie has learned to open about anything she can get her hands on. Apparently she managed to get the lid off of Haden's molding cream and she even knew the general vicinity that it's supposed to be applied. She was so proud of herself and was having a grand ole time until mama had to stop all the fun!

"I need some money"

A couple of weeks ago I took Evie with me on some morning errands. We stopped at the Kaysville Rec Center to sign up Stratton for baseball. In the corner of the lobby was a single vending machine with huge gum balls inside. Evie went over a looked at it for a minute then walked over to me and said as clear as day... "Mama, I need some money." To make sure I heard her correctly I stopped what I was doing and turned to her and sure enough she said it again, "mama, I need some money." Then she walked back to the gumballs and then back again a couple more times, with "I need some money." It was so cute! I wonder where she's heard that before....?? She is obviously watching her brothers closer than I think.

2 Wheeler

Over spring break Troy took the training wheels off and Stratton learned to ride his 2 wheeler bike all by himself. He learned so fast! After a few falls and learning to start and stop on his own; now he is loving his his new found freedom! He rides his bike now just about every day.
