Girl's Camp 2009

Girl's camp was full of adventure for sure! Janae Wright and myself made our way up EARLY Thursday morning with plans to be there through Friday. The drive up was the first adventure for the day. The map and road to Lake Lyman proved to be extremely difficult with very vague directions and extremely rough terrain. It was quite the trek in, (it took us about 4 hours) we were so happy when we finally found it! We got there just as flag ceremony was ending. Then it was off with the girls on a hike. Soon after we got back from that it started to rain and it rained and rained. So we ended up spending most of our time in the tents, singing camp songs and playing games. It was so fun to be with all the girls and leaders (who had been there since Tuesday). After dinner it hadn't stopped raining and the tents were leaking. So Brother Hudgins made the decision that we should pack up our camp and be ready to head home after the Stake program "Mountain Top Experience" that evening. Soaking wet we loaded everything up and then went to the program which was phenomenal. The Spirit was so strong, it was so well done and had such a great message. At the end when we sang the camp theme song "Do you Believe" everyone swayed together with arms intertwined and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. It was truly a great experience and I'm so glad I was able to be there for it! The Lord was watching over us, because the rain then stopped and we were able to hold our testimony meeting around the camp fire. I love this part of Girl's camp because the Spirit is so strong and every one's hearts are opened and filled. Needless to say we left on our trek home quite late and didn't get home until around 2:00 in the morning. Which put me about 3 hours away from being up for 24 straight hours. It was exhausting but so worth it!!

July 4th

Troy and I started out the morning by running in the Murray 5K along with Justin Hyatt. It has been a tradition for Troy and Justin for long time. Last year Haden ran it with them and was supposed to again this year, but he wasn't feeling well, so I stepped in his place. Even though I jog regularly, it was the first 5K I have ever been in. The race didn't start until 8:00 and the sun was just beating down on us the whole race, which caused me a pounding headache. But other than that it was a lot of fun and I'm glad I did it. Later that day family came over to our house for some dinner and fireworks. We went to the Layton City fireworks for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised, it was a great show!

Harris Family Reunion 2009

This year we held the Harris Family Reunion in St. George. We had a blast as always! We swam a whole bunch (always my kids' favorite part), went to "Annie" at the Touachan ampitheatre, went on a fun hike, played at the beach, and of course the traditional talent show. Anne and Mitch were both able to come in from out of state. We missed Danny and Heather who opted not to come being so close to delivery of their new baby boy. Great times!

Catching up

My computer was acting up for a couple months, my blog wasn't even working, so I finally broke down and took the computer to the repair shop. After 10 long days we finally got to pick it up and now it's working great! I'm excited to get going on my blog again and get all caught up! I started my blog in January and I plan on making it into a book I can print and keep, so I can't stop now, it's been a great way to keep a mini scrapbook/journal of my family!

Baseball

Stratton played his first year of "coach pitch" baseball. He had a great little team and learned a lot. He really enjoyed it, especially when he got up to bat and could run the bases!

Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day at our home this year. The pictures of Troy, Clay, and Travis crack me up in their decked out BBQ gear, love the mits boys! I can just see Troy now pulling the spatula out of his handy front pocket and flipping those hamburgers, how sexy!
