All of the boys are in school all day now and Evie and I have all of this wonderful time together now, just the two of us. This Fall day in September, Evie and I decided to go on a walk. We headed down 3200 W. It wasn't long before we noticed Sister
Allred (a sweet, elderly woman in our ward). She is in her 90's, she lost her husband quite a few years ago. She was taking out the garbage can to the road over a very
gravelly driveway. We stopped to ask if she needed any help. What came next was when our little adventure began. We got talking to Sister
Allred and she invited us to come and see her farm. We fed the horses with her... we fed them the fallen apples from the tree. One of the apples Evie threw to the horses fell short and Sister Allred crawled through the fence like it was nothing, picked up the apple, and threw it back out to the horse and crawled back throught the fence. It was amazing! Then she took us to her chicken coup, we got to go right inside, as the chickens pecked around us. She showed us where they lay their eggs and let Evie have one to take home. She also showed us her many trees and gave Evie a plum from her tree. Then she insisted that we try out her hammock, which was hanging from a very large, aged tree. She not only wanted us to get in the hammock, she wanted to push us! So here she was 90+ years old, pushing us in the hammock and talking to us all the while. It was the sweetest thing ever. She was so kind and made Evie feel so special. It is a walk to remember!
